Birds New Zealand is delighted to be co-hosting the Australasian Ornithological Conference 2025. This will be a great opportunity to continue discussions from Brisbane in 2023, and make new connections in Perth. I’m hoping that we will be able to showcase the outcomes of recent work on birds and their habitats from Aotearoa New Zealand, with plenty of opportunities for learning between our two countries. With a full programme of presentations and aligned events in development, I have no doubt that there will be something for everyone.

I am delighted that we are co-hosting yet another fantastic conference in 2025, with the support of our dedicated Local Organising Committee in Boorloo/Perth. This year we will continue to shine the light on exemplary ornithological science and research by bringing together experts, community, volunteers, students, staff, government and key partners to address and share the knowledge that will foster and promote ongoing urgent bird conservation efforts. Building on the great success of AOC2023, I am overjoyed that BirdLife Australia board members, research and conservation committee members, Branch, Networks and Special Interest Groups will be joining us. I am also looking forward to hearing the inspiring and valuable work from First Nations partners engaged in bird research on Country. I am excited for AOC2025, and look forward to seeing you all there in November!
